Webinar
People-centred Conversations – Questioning to Ignite and Empower
1 hour /// Online /// Next training: TBD
Ever felt ‘stuck in the mud’ when working with clients? The questions we ask can become circular and we find ourselves doing all the ‘heavy-lifting’ during the session, home visit or phone contact. It may be that it’s time to deepen your person centred approach in conversation.
We often underestimate the power of our presence and what people feel when we create an environment of safety without judgement.
Even when it seems our presence is unwanted, it can have a powerful effect.
If we don’t understand this, we can go into self-doubt and feel ineffective, then we can overcompensate and begin to give advice for the sake of feeling as though we are doing something.
Join this webinar to develop your skills in a person centred approach to conversation that clears up the muddy water so that what is in front of your client is easier for them to see and act upon. We will include space for discussion and questions.
In this webinar we will cover:
- Setting the scene so the Purpose of our conversations is clear.
- Communication – it is more than words
- Self-awareness and conversation.
- Confirming the client and their capacity
- Person centred approach to listening – mining for strengths and markers in conversations.
Participants may also be interested in attending our webinar on Strengths-based Conversations: The Column Approach to further expand their understanding of this area of their practice.

I found that Bernadette’s strength based line of questioning helped me understand that questions are more powerful than advice, that these strength based questions bring about insight into your teams landscapes and their understanding of a situation”
